EPUB
EPUB is the open standard for ebooks, and the W3C EPUB 3 specification defines it. Most retailers, including Apple Books and Kobo, accept it. We build clean, validated files with a working navigation menu and correct metadata.
Services · Ebook Conversion Services
Ebook conversion services turn your finished manuscript, Word file, PDF or InDesign layout into properly built ebook files that open correctly on Kindle, Apple Books, Kobo and other reading apps. We deliver EPUB, Kindle-ready and PDF versions, in reflowable or fixed layout, and we check them before they reach a retailer. Pricing is quoted per project after a free consultation, as a fixed written quote with milestones and no hidden fees.

A good conversion is not a save-as. A file exported straight from a word processor often arrives with broken chapter links, stray page breaks, missing images and fonts that jump around. A proper conversion rebuilds the book so it behaves like an ebook and not like a photograph of a printed page.
Ebook conversion is the process of building a digital book file from your source material. The converter structures the text with real chapter headings, a working table of contents, clean styles, embedded images, links and metadata, then exports files that meet retailer rules and open reliably on phones, tablets and e-readers.
The source can be a Word document, a Google Doc, a print-ready PDF or a designed layout. Print PDFs are the hardest source, because they hold page positions and not structure, which means more manual rebuilding and a higher quote. If you have no clean source at all, our book formatting services can prepare both the print interior and the ebook together.
The finished files also carry your title, author name, description and other details, so stores and readers can find the book. Good metadata is part of the build, not an afterthought.
Conversion is separate from editing. We recommend that your text is final first, since fixing a typo after conversion means rebuilding and rechecking files. Our manuscript editing services are the natural step before this one.
This is the first real decision in any conversion, and it shapes everything after. Reflowable text adapts to the reader's screen and settings. Fixed layout keeps every element exactly where you put it.
| Reflowable | Fixed layout | |
|---|---|---|
| How it behaves | Text wraps to the screen; readers change font and size | Each page keeps its exact design |
| Best for | Novels, memoirs, most nonfiction | Picture books, cookbooks, comics, heavily designed books |
| Strengths | Comfortable reading, accessible, smaller files | Design stays intact, precise placement of text and art |
| Trade-offs | Less control over page appearance | Harder to read on small screens, larger files, fewer apps support it equally |
One more point: a fixed-layout file cannot be resized by the reader, so test it honestly on a phone before you commit. Many picture books look wonderful on a tablet and cramped on a small screen.
Most books should be reflowable. If your book is mostly words, choose it. If the layout is part of the content, as in a children's picture book or a recipe book with photographs, fixed layout is worth the extra work. We recommend one during the consultation, and we tell you plainly when a simpler option will do. Choosing reflowable for a text-heavy book also keeps files small and easier for readers to adjust.
Different stores and readers want different files, so we build the set you need from one source.

Amazon keeps its own list of accepted formats, which you can check on the Amazon KDP file format page. We prepare your book to meet current Kindle requirements and test how it displays before submission. We also keep your cover image to retailer size and quality rules, and can coordinate with your cover designer if the file needs adjusting.
A PDF ebook suits workbooks, guides and reading on a computer, where fixed pages are an advantage. We can produce a screen-optimized PDF with clickable contents and links, which is different from a print-ready file.
Authors with a finished book and no digital edition, small publishers moving a backlist online, and writers whose self-made file keeps failing retailer checks all come to us. So do authors whose print book must become an ebook with its images intact. If your files look fine on your computer but strange on a Kindle or phone, a rebuild usually fixes it.
Pricing is quoted per project after a free consultation, and we do not publish ebook conversion figures. The quote depends on word count, how clean your source file is, the number of images, tables, footnotes and links, whether the layout is reflowable or fixed, how many formats you need and how many revision rounds you want. Fixed layout and illustrated books take more work than a text-only novel.
To keep the quote accurate, send your source file and any images with your first message, and tell us about anything unusual: poetry with special line breaks, sidebars, equations, footnotes that must link both ways, or audio and video you hope to include. Surprises found after the quote is approved are the main cause of delays, so we would rather hear about them early.
Your timeline is confirmed in the written quote and depends on length, complexity and how quickly you give feedback. Rush schedules are available for an additional fee, quoted up front. If you want a complete ebook release with distribution, the Ebook Launch publishing package starts from $1,490 and is described on our pricing page, with the final fixed quote depending on scope.
Every project gets the same care, whether it is a short guide or a full novel.
Quality starts with a clean build and ends with checks on real apps, because a file that passes a validator can still look wrong. Accessibility matters in ebooks too. Where relevant we add image descriptions and a logical reading order, following guidance in the EPUB accessibility specification. You own all of your files and your book, with rights confirmed in writing at the start, and your content stays private and is used only for your project. We cannot promise sales, store approval or rankings.
Reflowable text adapts to the reader's screen and font settings. Fixed layout locks each page's design in place, which suits illustrated and design-led books.
EPUB covers most retailers, including Apple Books and Kobo, plus a Kindle-ready version for Amazon. A PDF is optional for guides and workbooks. We recommend the set that matches your sales channels.
Yes. Word documents convert most cleanly. PDFs can be converted too, but they usually need more manual rebuilding because they lack real structure.
It is quoted per project after a free consultation. The price depends on length, source condition, images, layout type and formats, and there are no hidden fees.
We test on several apps and screen sizes, but readers use many devices and settings, so we cannot promise identical results everywhere. Reflowable books are designed to adapt, and that flexibility is the whole point of the format.
A well-built ebook looks quietly professional, and readers never think about it, which is the goal. If you need ebook conversion services that deliver clean, tested files, get a free consultation and tell us about your book. Planning a print edition as well? Our hardcover book printing services and book cover design services cover that side.
